Making the baby shower centrepiece an 'eye-catcher'!

The focal point of a baby shower is the table centrepiece. This needs to be placed above eye level so that it does not obstruct the view of the guest of honour and those attending the baby shower. You need to choose the theme of the baby shower to decide what the centre piece is going to be. Traditional centrepieces revolve around floral arrangements with baby balloons attached. Ideas have become very innovative over the years and while the traditional centrepiece can be beautiful, there are so many ideas to choose from.

You can mix and match ideas to create something that is suitable to the expectant mothers personality. After all, the shower is about mother and baby, so it does need to be something that she is going to love and that suits her. You want to make this a memorable experience for her.

You can purchase the centrepiece or if you are creative, you might even opt to make the centrepiece yourself. You will need to think of your budget, if you do not have that much to spend, choosing a simple flower or balloon arrangement might be the best option but work out your budget and go from there. If you opt for the flower arrangement, you don’t necessarily have to go with fresh flowers. There are many artificial flowers, from plastic to silk to chocolate roses and even light up roses. Have a look around and see what is available to you. If you do choose fresh flowers, it is more economical to choose flowers that are in season. Fresh flowers are fragrant and vibrant and every woman loves flowers, so you cant’ really go wrong with this choice.

Another idea is to use a wicker basket and fill it with baby products. Line the basket with a beautiful baby blanket and then choose small items like pacifiers, bibs, socks, vests and baby bottles to fill the basket. You can surround the basket with candles and even attach a few helium balloons.

A popular centrepiece is a chocolate fountain. Most people love chocolate and what better way to enjoy fresh fruit and other refreshments other than dipping them in warm chocolate. It’s a nice centrepiece and also makes the planning of the food a little easier.

Floating centrepieces are also beautiful. Take a clear glass bowl, add some glass pebbles to the bottom off the bowl and fill it two-thirds with water. To this you can add some little plastic ducks or frogs or any plastic cartoon toys.

Making an edible fruit bouquet will serve as 2 in 1 because it will be your centrepiece and add to your refreshments for the evening. This is a good idea instead of making a fruit salad for the evening. It will be a striking centrepiece and enjoyable to all that attend.

A very cute choice for a centrepiece is to buy a medium to large stuffed animal and place this in a little cradle. You can fill the cradle with many different baby accessories.

There are so many ideas to choose from, but at the end of the day, you need to decide what will best suit the personality of the mother to make this day a very special and memorable occasion for her.
