No-one quite knows why some women suffer from morning sickness during their pregnancy. Some doctors have suggested that it is due to the change in hormones and/or change in blood sugar levels. It’s called morning sickness, but if you ask those who suffer from it, it doesn’t necessarily occur only in the morning. You can experience it in the afternoon or evening time either. Many women will be left asking: “Are there any morning sickness cures?”
While there may not be a “cure”, there are some things that you can do to help alleviate the symptoms. First and foremost, you must consult your doctor before trying any “home remedies”. What might be good for one person, might not be good for you.
One reason you might be feeling nauseous is due to the fact that your saliva glands excrete more saliva during pregnancy than they normally would. This excess saliva in your mouth can leave you feeling nauseous. Try eating salt and vinegar crisps, the salt and vinegar should dry up the saliva, thus reducing the nausea.
Make sure that your stomach is not left hungry, this will make anyone nauseous. Try to eat small meals regularly. If you notice that you feel sick after eating certain foods, avoid them. It is important to listen to your body. If your body is lacking protein or iron, this will make you feel ill too. When having a snack, go for ones that are high in protein, Your doctor will be able to advise you if you need a supplement. If you have been getting sick, be sure to keep up your fluid intake. Try to stay away from fried or fatty foods.
Keep your feet up and you head slightly elevated when resting. Rest as much as you can!
