Are there some practical tips to help my baby to sleep longer during the night and through the morning?

Parents of new born babies will have many questions such as how to get baby to sleep longer during the night and through the morning. Some babies will sleep less than others a baby that wakes early in the morning and is visible tired shoals e put back to sleep. You should adapt the same attitude as you would if your baby woke in the middle of the night. Gently reassure your baby and gently but firmly encourage you bay to go back to sleep. A sleep friendly atmosphere in your baby’s nursery will help to get baby off to sleep. Illuminate all outside factors such as noise pollution and light if the morning light waking baby up if these are factors then a black out curtain or blind will help with some sound proofing.



In your quest to discover how to get baby to sleep longer you must remember that babies don’t need 8 or 10 hours sleep and some babies will need less sleep than others ultimately. If your baby is going to sleep at 7 or 8 at night the he or she will be awake at 6 or 7 which wont be a parents normal waking hours. There are two schools of thought a baby that wakes too early and is still sleep a baby that has had enough sleep or has their sleep pattern disrupted. A baby’s day time routine can affect a nigh time one or example if baby is sleeping too much during the day then he wont sleep for long periods. A good tip is to lessen the amounts of naps a baby has during the day. A mid morning nap and late afternoon nap will keep baby awake till late evening time in order for baby to sleep till a more reasonable time.



Also if you want baby to sleep longer you should bring forward the bed time, for example a baby who sleeps from eight o’ clock will sleep longer than one who has a bed time of seven. As a parent you cannot expect a baby to sleep from early in the evening till either eight or nine in the morning to accommodate you as a parent. If you need to change a babies routine in order to help her sleep longer than you must gradually bring back the bed time by ten minuets or less over a three week period.



It is also a good idea not to encourage a baby to sleep with mom and dad as this is both dangerous and impractical. It is very tempting when your tired to bring baby into you bed to have a good night sleep but in the long run it is a bad idea. Changing daytime routines along with adapting the sleeping enjoinment and using baby lavender and massage oils will help in you quest to get baby to sleep longer.
